April Haugen
MSM, LM, CPM
April Haugen grew up in small towns during her childhood and adolescent years. This is where she learned to appreciate the closeness of community. She fell in love with midwifery at a young age of 10 when a local mother introduced her to home birth. The personalized care she received and the relationship that formed between the mother and her midwife opened April's eyes to the capacity of what a relationship with your healthcare provider could be like.
Her life has lead her down the road of midwifery for a very long time. She is passionate about supporting families in the most exciting journey of their lives. She holds the birth space with compassion and patience, believing women are so much stronger then they realize. Her goal is to help women find their voice and inner strength, by guiding them through education which allows them to make the best decisions for their family.
Her other passion in life is herbal medicine and its ability to support the body's natural healing capacity and how it compliments midwifery care.
She has been supporting families as a birth doula since 2000, then went on to obtain her Bachelor's degree in Herbal Science from Bastyr University in 2010. In 2014 she graduated with her Masters in the Science of Midwifery from Bastyr University. Shortly after graduation she became Licensed as a Midwife in Washington State, and a Certified Professional Midwife. She has participated in over 600 deliveries.
April is also a mother of two children, Madisen and Caydyn. In her free time she enjoys gardening, hiking, camping, photography, and spending time with her family. She has chosen to raise her children in Ellensburg, WA, surrounded by a warm and friendly community.
